“Black students’ lives matter”

President Vaccarino’s statement reads:

“The University of Guelph takes pride in being an inclusive, respectful, and supportive community. We are committed to creating a community that is welcoming and one that celebrates diversity. We take seriously the concerns expressed by members of our community recently as they took part in the system wide ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign. It is important that we listen to these voices to determine where improvements can be made. As such, our provost, Dr. Charlotte Yates, is reviewing the issues that were presented and will be moving quickly to engage our community in a dialogue regarding ways that we can improve our campus culture and support programs to ensure all members of our community feel welcomed, respected and supported.”
