Kneale Mann is a member of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce and a successful entrepreneur, working as a consultant in a variety of industries. He has built a career around human behaviour, helping individuals and organizations to define their success and work towards it.
In telling his story, Mann connected to the day’s theme: From Theory to Reality. His theory about life has remained firmly focused on hard work, and rejects the separation of business and personal.
“It’s your life. It’s your work. Take it personally,” he urged the audience gathered at TEDxGuelphU.
Mann bases his philosophy on three concepts: relationships, asking for help, and humility. He encouraged audience members to develop a positive relationship with themselves and participate in positive self-talk, asking, “Would you let other people talk to you the way you talk to you?”
Mann believes that the ideas of emotional labour would enable more businesses to be more successful. He also acknowledges the value in asking for help and being humble enough to accept it; he reminded Saturday’s audience, “Not a successful person in history did it by themselves.”
Mann’s presentation style was confident and comfortable, and it was clear that he truly believed in the ideas he was encouraging his audience to consider.
