Guelph Pride Week began on April 30, 2016 with a flag-raising ceremony at Market Square. Supporters and sponsors gathered to celebrate with music, food, and a sense of community.
Representing Guelph Pride’s main sponsor, RBC Canada, Jamie Clinch was met with an enthusiastic crowd when he said, “We each deserve to feel proud about who we are and who we love.”
This year’s Pride committee, chaired by Martin Straathof, coordinated 10 days of events and added some new programming inclusive to youth and people who identify as trans.
Both Clinch and Straathof were joined by Mayor Cam Guthrie to launch the rainbow flag just outside of City Hall.
