Whether you are perusing Instagram, reading a BuzzFeed article, or catching up on your YouTube subscriptions, it is hard to miss at least one source mentioning the benefits of apple cider vinegar and how much they love it.
Curious as to what this trend had to offer, I grabbed a bottle from Walmart and took to the internet for some further information.
Though I found several different uses for the product—well known for its cooking capabilities—I decided to focus on the health and beauty uses that applied to my situation.
First, many of us want clearer, softer, and glowing skin, especially on our faces, so I started there.
Being naturally antibacterial and containing alpha hydroxy acids, which help to exfoliate skin, apple cider vinegar has been making the rounds as a new kind of toner.
Applied with a cotton round before moisturizing and after washing your face, the apple cider vinegar helps to clear skin and battle breakouts.
Having personally tried this, I can say that it may sting depending on your skin type, and it does have quite the smell, but I did see an improvement in my skin over the short time that I used it. If you wanted to take this even further, you can also create clay masks with the apple cider vinegar, which can work towards potentially clearing your skin.
Another popular trend I thought would be good to consider was weight loss. Apple cider vinegar contains high levels of vitamin B, vitamin E, vitamin A, magnesium, calcium, and iron, which all promote detoxifying of your body, boosting immune systems, and increasing energy. It is also said that the vinegar can reduce hunger, helping you stay fuller longer, promoting potential weight loss.
By ingesting the apple cider vinegar by mixing it into dressings, diluting it in water, or through a capsule, it is said to assist your body as well as your skin.
Overall, apple cider vinegar really has been growing in popularity, and with so many testimonials coming through, it is hard not to think that there may be some real benefits to using it for more than just making dinner.
