ONtrend: Get inspired by punk style and animal prints this season

Up and coming spring fashion trends for all

As the weather starts to make its way away from snow and ice and towards sun and fun, trends for the upcoming months have started to emerge. Something noteworthy this spring is the carryover from winter trends as well as the fluidity of the genders assigned to said trends.

Punk-inspired jackets and prints are definitely emerging into mainstream fashion. Whether it is the painted leather jackets from Coach or the added touch of chains or studs, the punk era is rearing its sometimes frightening head.

This time around, however, the key is all about being understated. Rather than wearing multiple different pieces in the same stream, one or two pieces is all that is needed to pull off the look. Try a leather jacket with some detailing, some dark denim, or a pair of Doc Martens.

Embellishments are making a huge appearance this season. Roses, skulls, and bold fonts are popping up on jackets, jeans, and everything in between.

It is common to see many different pieces on one item of clothing, but as long as they are all in the same theme, or make some sense together you should be good to go. A staple piece this spring would be a bomber jacket with a tiger, roses, and maybe even some dice.

Finally, the last trend to make this list is animal prints, but not in the traditional sense. Rather than the old cheetah or zebra, this season sees the whole animal printed instead. No animal has been left behind, including goldfish, hamsters, and velociraptors. Again, Coach has hopped on this trend, while other brands have included the prints on bags, hats, and even jeans.

Overall, we will see many of the trends of the winter carried over into the cooler days of spring, with some alterations to suit the warming months. Once again, this season proves that it is possible to still look good, even when the weather doesn’t.
