In pictures: “What’s your damage?”
Preparation for the annual Curtain Call Productions’ musical begins as early as September—the start of the fall school semester. For audience members, the two-and-a-half hour show is a fun night out when they get to watch the culmination of everyone’s efforts. However, for those who have never been involved in theatrical shows of this scale before, it’s difficult to notice how much work goes on behind the scenes.
Besides the cast of 18 that appear in the show, a team of 19 executives, including production teams for set design, props, costumes, and technical production, along with crew and band members, are required and greatly appreciated.

Sometimes during rehearsals, assistant stage manager Rachel Cass gets to play the role of “Table.”

The production team had a tight deadline when it came to building the set, but miraculously, they got everything ready in time for the show in less than a week.

Spotlight operator Karlie Castle practiced running lighting cues in preparation for the show.

The orchestra had hours-long rehearsals every week since November 2016.

Associate producer Ian Thompson looks longingly at “The Hands,” played by assistant stage manager Emma Thomas. The gloved hands’ most notable scene was when they briefly held a package of BBQ corn nuts as part of the 7-Eleven store display before retreating in a sultry style.

Sets designer Mike MacGregor (middle) along with set design assistants Rob Howard (left) and Jerome Woo (right) are re-imagined as the Heathers in an alternate version of the musical.

Members of Curtain Call Productions’ board of directors re-enact some of their favourite iconic poses from the show.

Thanks to the support of the executives, cast, crew, and band, Heathers the Musical was a wild success.
