Shameful response to an injury

The other night, during an intramural soccer game at the Fieldhouse, a player on the opposing team severely broke his wrist. It was clear to everyone in attendance that he would need to go to the hospital, including the player himself who calmly requested an ambulance. But as per protocol, campus first response had to be the first ones called. A campus police officer arrived approximately 10 minutes later, followed by the first response team who could only attempt to make the player more comfortable.

It took over 25 minutes (yes, someone had a stopwatch going) for the paramedics to enter the field. This timeline is completely unacceptable. To the best of my knowledge (from talking to various parties), the ambulance actually had trouble finding the Fieldhouse (a location where sports are being played every day).

Thankfully this was not a life-threatening injury, although the pain suffered by the player must have been horrible. It should not take a serious incident for the University to sort out a more efficient response to these types of situations.
