The Boo Radley Project’s unique energy never fails to satisfy those seeking a fresh and exciting live experience, and their most recent show at DSTRCT was no exception.
The local band was joined by Toronto’s Glass Cactus and London’s Lost in Japan, a combination of high-energy acts perfect for dancing away your back-to-school melancholy.

Following the release of their years-in-the-making first album Bred to Be Loyal, the band has been touching down on stages across the province on a weekly basis. This summer marked their fifth year performing at Riverfest Elora, placing them on the same bill as acclaimed Canadian artists like Mother Mother and Monster Truck.
The Boo’s live lineup is constantly changing, at times playing as a stripped-down three piece, and other times filling the stage with performers. Despite their rotating cast of characters, the band seamlessly adapts their own arrangements and selects covers to perfectly highlight the strengths of that night’s lineup.

On Thursday, Sept. 7 the Boo materialized with a group of six. A pair of horns and a violin supplemented the standard rock core of guitar, drum, and bass to create a powerful “Alterna-Funk” sound without going over the top. They delivered their intricate song structures with an ease that could persuade even the most static of crowds onto the dance floor.
An ability to align unpredictable charisma with consistent virtuosity has earned The Boo Radley Project a reputation as one of the most exciting acts performing in the area today. With an East Coast tour beginning next month, the band shows no sign of slowing down.
