Gryphons sneak a victory last Thursday, Jan. 11
The Gryphons women’s hockey team faced off against the York Lions in a tension-filled game at the Gryphon Centre last Thursday. In the first period, the Gryphons and Lions exchanged shots, but were left goalless.

The second period heated up in the last two minutes when the Lions scored on the Gryphons, only to have the score tied right back to 1-1 in the last 24 seconds of the period.

The third period consisted of a back and forth with the Lions scoring first, followed by the Gryphons tying the score. The Lions would score with three minutes left in the game, but the Gryphons abandoned their net and tied the score to 3-3 just a minute later, pushing the game into overtime. Rookie defenceman Katie Mikkelsen secured the Gryphons’ victory three minutes into overtime, defeating the Lions 4-3.
