Our top five Toronto Raptors moments of the 2017/18 season

After another bitter four-game sweep to the Cavs, you got to remember the good

It was yet another demoralizing, soul-crushing, punch-a-pillow exit for the Toronto Raptors this season, but hey, less than a week later, we’re still alive.

And even though LeBronto memes will haunt us all forever, there was a lot of good to look back on this season. We at The Ontarion have compiled our top five favourite moments of the season, so we can remember that maybe we shouldn’t blow it up after all.

  1. DeMar DeRozan’s coast-to-coast dunk on the Pistons

This dunk of the year candidate will replay in our hearts and souls for years after the DeMar DeRozan era comes to an end. Might even belong next to vintage Vince Carter in a compilation somewhere.

  1. Death, taxes, and JV’s threes

Not one moment — every time the 7-foot Lithuanian lightning (full name Jonas Valančiūnas) hit a three from the top of the circle we lost our minds. And let’s all give a shout-out to broadcaster Matt Devlin for voicing all our excitement. Please, JV, I speak for all us giddy fans — shoot threes at a higher clip next year.

  1. Every Bench Mob transition basket

Last year’s G League champions were this year’s best bench in the NBA. For every steal or block turned into a transition three for CJ Miles, or a Pascal Siakam dunk, we salute you.

  1. DeMar DeRozan’s 52-point game

When DeRozan dropped 52 points on the Bucks on New Year’s Day, breaking Terrence Ross’s and Vince Carter’s 51-point franchise record, we all collectively raised our fist in victory while sitting on the couch nursing our hangovers. When JV walked up behind DeMar during the post-game interview with a sheet of paper displaying a 51 crossed out alongside a 52, he cemented it into history.

  1. When we blew out the Cavs by 34 points

Remember when we last beat the Cavs and thought we were a lock to make it to the finals? Yeah, we remember. Oh well, there’s always next year. And who knows, maybe LeBron will blow his back helping his buddy move his fridge or something.
