Sold out performance in Toronto doesn’t disappoint
On Sunday, June 3, 2018, Bruno Major performed at The Great Hall in Toronto. Major is a singer-songwriter from London, England, who has grown a following including almost two million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Personally, I hadn’t listened to him much before the concert. My friend Chloe and her boyfriend Weihan invited my boyfriend RJ and I to see him in concert. So, it was a plan for a fun double date. (We also have concert plans together to see Charlie Puth in July.)

Eloise was the opening performer for Bruno Major. Let me tell you — when she first sang, the crowd fell silent in awe. Her pitch range was that of Sara Bareilles. I learned later that Eloise, brilliant singer as she was, was also the pianist in Major’s band.

Major’s genre is R&B. If I were to compare his sound to another artist, it would be to John Mayer. My favourite song performed by Major was his single “Easily” from his 2017 album A Song For Every Moon.

I enjoyed that, in between songs, Major shared with the crowd his experiences and insights about the songs he’s written. He spoke to us as if we were his friends. He mentioned that in every song he wrote he poured his heart out and that it was emotional as well as rewarding. He also mentioned he’s been working at this since he was 17 years old in his parents’ garage, and now in his 30s he feels like he’s finally being heard.
It was an intimate, beautiful performance and I’d very much love to watch him perform again the next time he comes to Toronto.
