The science and stats behind roleplaying in the bedroom
Halloween is a time when you get to dress up as any character you want, but Halloween parties are not the only place where you can choose to be someone else. If interested, you can also be someone else in the bedroom.
Sasha, a writer for Psych and Sex, states that roleplay includes anything that allows you to explore ways to express yourself sexually, which can include different personalities or temperaments.
Roleplay is meant to heighten sexual arousal through re-enacting scenarios. Roleplay is about acting out your fantasies. In a survey by Psych and Sex, 40 per cent of people said that roleplay means playing pretend.

The roleplay survey also found that:
- 63 per cent of people have done roleplay before
- 50 per cent of people incorporate roleplay into their sex life a couple times a year or occasionally
- 13 per cent incorporate roleplay at least once a month

Esther Perel, a sex and relationships expert based in New York City, states that when bringing up the idea of roleplay to your partner it is good to reassure your partner that you enjoy what you have, as wanting to roleplay does not mean your partner is inadequate, and to ease into the conversation of trying roleplay.
Perel notes that using a third item, such as a movie or book, that has something you want to try is a good way to get inspiration and to bring up the idea of roleplay to your partner. A report by Bustle on a survey done by LifeStyle condoms found that 12 per cent of millennials have found inspiration from 50 Shades of Grey and that 17 per cent of women prefer to act out the characters from 50 Shades of Grey as a roleplay above all else.

It can be difficult to tell your partner about your fantasies, but talking to your partner about what turns you on can help them better understand what you like and dislike sexually, which in turn helps your sexual satisfaction.
What roleplay to take on is all about what you and your partner find a turn on. The survey done by LifeStyle condoms found that 17 per cent of people said roleplaying as strangers is their favourite roleplay, which is also the roleplay 20 per cent of women prefer over all else. Eighteen percent of heterosexual men prefer their partner is a school girl, which is also the second most common character. The most common character for a female to dress up as was a stripper.
Roleplay does not need to have elaborate costumes or props. Halloween costumes can be a great way to start.
