Korean live-action movie explores the afterlife
Do you believe in the afterlife? If you do, you will definitely find the Korean film Along with the Gods exceptionally interesting. The movie begins with the death of the firefighter named Ja-hong and continues through as he encounters the three angels of death (a.k.a. Grim Reapers), and begins his journey of the afterlife. Throughout his journey, he stands in the seven trials held by the underworld gods, based on the sins in his life.
As the movie is originally based on a famous Korean online webtoon (Along with the Gods by artist Joo Ho-min), the movie is highly acclaimed as a successful ‘one source – multi-use’ example, and secured box office success by recording over 10 million viewers in South Korea. Even part two of the movie Along with the Gods: The last 49 days has already been released, thanks to its success.
This movie is based on the Buddhist view of the world and is a good chance for viewers to take a look at how Buddhists see the other side of the world. Not only is the movie full of excitement with the vivid depiction on the fantasized world of the afterlife, but will also allow viewers to take a step back and think about the true value of life.
