Seven study spots on campus other than the library

Places to study on campus when you can’t find a spot in the library

1. Macdonald Hall

Located at the north end of campus, Macdonald Hall is a fairly quiet place, especially on weeknights and weekends. The tables on the second floor have white boards available, and there is a lot of natural light in the lounge areas. Although it can be a hike from the bus loop, Macdonald Hall is worth checking out.

2. LA Pit: StarbucksThe Starbucks in north residence is a good study spot. It can be busier on weeknights and weekends, but day-time hours are usually quiet. With a fireplace, this spot has a warm and cozy atmosphere. It is also perfect to grab a meal from the LA Pit or coffee to keep you working for hours.

3. ThornbroughThornbrough is another study spot to check out. It is close to the bus loop, so you don’t have to walk through the snow, and close to the UC to run over and get some food. It does get harder to find a spot as the day goes on, so be sure to study here in the morning.

4. UC Food CourtMany people don’t know about the back of the UC food court, which makes it perfect for studying. To get here, take the hall that goes past the new study space in the south end of the UC, and turn right at the end. This space is perfect to grab some food before, during, or after you study!

5. Science ComplexThe Science Complex is another great study spot on campus. With lots of natural lighting, many people enjoy studying here, so make sure to come early in the day!

6. Bovey GreenhouseLocated on the west end of campus, the lobby in the Bovey Greenhouse is a quiet study spot with plenty of tables. For a study break, you can take a walk around the greenhouse to see what is growing.

7. Animal NutritionThe final study spot is the lobby in the Animal Nutrition building, located on the west end of campus on the other side of Gordon Street. They have tables and couches, perfect for taking a Netflix break. There is also a small coffee station and a microwave to warm up your leftovers.
