Premier Doug Ford said today that Ontario’s public schools will not reopen on May 4.
In March, the Ontario government announced that all publicly-funded schools in Ontario will be closed, saying, “Our number one priority is to protect our children.”
The closure was initially meant to last until at least May 1 for teachers and May 4 for students, however, due to the continued spread of COVID-19, the closures have been extended.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce will provide more on the announcement in the next few days.
“That does not mean that the year’s cancelled,” Ford added.
The Premier announced today that students will not be returning to school on May 4 as previously scheduled.
The Education Minister will provide more details in the days ahead and we will update the TDSB community as soon as we have more information. https://t.co/rCaUyjGFdX
