A listening event will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the 10C Shared Space on 42 Carden St.

In collaboration with University of Guelph institutions, an all-new podcast series about the shifting perspectives on poverty will be broadcasting this evening, and all community members are invited to attend its launch.
The series is part of a joint research project called Storied Lives: Shifting Perspective on Poverty. Spearheading it are several local organizations, including U of G’s Community Engaged Scholarship Institute, the Live Work Well Research Centre, and the Guelph and Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination. Together, they hope to amplify the voices of those experiencing poverty and encourage community members to reevaluate their assumptions about the causes of poverty.
Each episode will tell stories on the lived experiences of those in poverty and will feature commentary from experts in poverty reduction in an effort to showcase the intersectional factors that create poverty in Ontario and beyond.
Tonight’s launch will take place at the 10C Shared Space on 42 Carden St. at 6:30 p.m. and will also include a panel discussion hosted by MA candidate Vanessa Smikle, Project informants Dominica McPherson, Sharon Henriques, Aidan Lockhart, Leen Al-Habash, and Zoë Barrett-Wood will speak at the panel at 7 p.m. before proceeding to the podcast listening the following hour.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own headphones and mobile devices to the event. Masks will be mandatory, and complimentary refreshments will be offered. Visit eventbrite.ca to register or contact storiedlives@outlook.com for more information.
