Album of the Week: Taylor Swift, 1989

I am reminiscent for a time when I didn’t have to defend my love for Taylor Swift. 1989, released on Oct. 27, is a departure for Swift – a departure that I love. A mix of perky dance anthems and smooth, slow ballads, 1989 is, as eloquently noted by the New York Times, an “idea of pop music harks back to a period — the mid-1980s — when pop was less overtly hybrid.” If you like dancing in your car at traffic lights and fun, classic pop (the kind without the seemingly ever-present rap artist interlude), this is totally the album for you.
