Dear new and returning students,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you back to the University of Guelph! In your upcoming years as a Gryphon, you have the opportunity to create an incredible variety of memorable and formative experiences. Your journey here will undoubtedly fuel your ambition to become an active and contributing member of society.
While your time spent as a Gryphon will cultivate a sense of communal pride and individual growth, it is also important to recognize that you inherit a responsibility that comes alongside being a member of the University of Guelph—to uphold and adhere to the highest standards of inclusion, ambition, and active participation within our constantly growing community.
As Editor-in-Chief of The Ontarion, it is my aim to contribute to the U of G community in a meaningful way. Since 1951, our paper has provided a voice and outlet for students to deliver news on-campus in an interactive and accessible way. Through encouraging volunteers to write, take photos, and copy edit for our publication, The Ontarion is a paper that thrives on learning, teaching, and helping others.
With our Back-to-School Guide, we hope that you gain valuable information from the articles and resources provided by our staff and volunteers to make this school year your most successful one yet. Using the resources that are available to you will make your experience here better in ways you couldn’t have imagined.
If you would like to contribute to The Ontarion and want to be a part of our dedicated and growing volunteer base, our weekly meetings are held Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. in UC room 264.
On behalf of myself and the staff of The Ontarion—welcome to the University of Guelph!
Sincerely,
Emilio Ghloum
Editor-in-Chief
