Hailing from Brighton, England this two-piece band consists of Mike Kerr (lead vocals, bass guitar) and Ben Thatcher (drums). Just like other popular duos of our time, (such as the Black Keys, Death From Above 1979, and Local H) Royal Blood pushes the envelope on what can be accomplished with bass and drums by creating a full sound that makes you think that the band consists of more than just two members. With Kerr’s solid bass lines and lyrical prowess combined with Thatcher’s ability to play with space and time, you get an album that captures your mind right from the get go, which ultimately helps create their bluesy hard rock feel.
Royal Blood got a big break this summer by touring with the Foo Fighters and were also presented with the “Best British Group Award” at the 2015 Brit Awards by the one-and-only Jimmy Page.
Songs like “Loose Change” and “Figure It Out,” with their solid grooves will make your head bop up and down on a subconscious level. If you haven’t had a chance to hear them yet, do yourself a favour and check them out, you won’t regret it!
