Suspect in University of Guelph graduate’s death attends bail hearing

The 21-year-old Guelph man charged in connection with the events surrounding Sunday morning’s auto accident fatality faces a total of 13 charges, up from the six previously reported. Curtis L. Henri appeared Wednesday morning for a bail hearing in Guelph.

Charges include: break, enter, and theft; criminal negligence causing death; and dangerous driving causing death. Henri’s case is adjourned until Dec. 29.

On Dec. 16, the Guelph police reported that Henri was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, as well as breaching the terms of his probation. A 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were both arrested alongside Henri, on Dec. 15.

According to the Guelph police, the two other individuals arrested alongside Henri were “found in [Henri’s] motel room at the same time.”

Former University of Guelph graduate Grace Glofcheskie died Sunday morning, after a stolen 2007 Ford Escape struck her as she was walking along Woolwich Street. On Dec. 16, the university announced that Glofcheskie’s family created a memorial fund through the University of Guelph’s Alumni Affairs and Development.

A funeral will be held for Glofcheskie on Saturday, Dec. 17. at the St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in Arnprior, her hometown. The University of Guelph’s flags will be lowered to half-mast, in honour of Glofcheskie’s funeral.

“There will likely be a celebration service in the new year,” said Brenda Whiteside, the University of Guelph’s associate vice-president of student affairs, in an interview with The Ontarion.
