Ontario Minister of Education Liz Sandals visited the University of Guelph on March 18, 2016 to discuss the government’s changes to OSAP. Students now receive all of their funding up-front, and the government has pledged more money to aid students pursuing a post-secondary education. Minister Sandals was careful to avoid making any claim that the government was providing free tuition. Instead, she stressed the Ontario government’s commitment to making post-secondary education more affordable for students.

The Ontarion is the University of Guelph’s independent student newspaper. It began in 1951 as part of the Ontario Agricultural College and then began to represent the entire University of Guelph once it amalgamated in 1964. The Ontarion incorporated in May 1970 as The Ontarion, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation registered with the province of Ontario.
