Check Your Head, the highly influential fourth studio album, was released by the Beastie Boys in 1992 under Capitol Records. Based out of New York City the band on this record consisted of: Adam “MCA” Yauch (Bass), Michael “Mike D” Diamond (Drums), Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Mark Ramos Nishita (D6, Clav, Organ, Wurlitzer and Master Carpenter). Check Your Head blends genres of punk, hip-hop, rock and jazz into a highly eclectic masterpiece that will take you on a sonic journey and back while craving more. Songs like “So What’cha Want” and “Gratitude” exemplify the virtuosity, lyrical content and unique genius that are the Beastie Boys. With the recent and unfortunate death of MCA in 2012 due to cancer, it’s very unlikely that the band will tour or produce new music again.
