“Master Manipulator” is the first song and title track of Johnny de Courcy’s latest EP. It’s very upbeat pop with an eerie yet catchy chorus. However, the highlights of the song are during the saxophone solos, climaxing with a battle of guitars and saxophones. “A Girl Like You” is de Courcy’s cover of Edwyn Collins ’94 hit, but de Courcy has changed the tempo and added many of his own elements to turn it into his own masterpiece. It features synthesizers that provide eerie noises and effects, and distorted guitar solos. “A Girl Like You” is nostalgic, but de Courcy found a way to turn it into his own artwork. “Slayer Castle Suite in Cm-ish” is the last song on Master Manipulator and is de Courcy’s grand piano instrumental. The song sounds like something you would have heard while playing one of the Final Fantasy games, with eerie twists that only come from the mind of Johnny de Courcy.
