More effort, more fat, same great taste
Tasty videos may just be the height of internet-based culinary excellence—but why? Science has the answer.
Studies show that the brain reacts positively to Tasty videos because humans are evolutionarily predisposed to crave fats and sugars. If there’s one thing that Tasty recipes know how to deliver, it’s exponentially increasing the number of calories while maintaining pretty much the same flavour.
Tasty videos are addictive food porn at its finest. You’ve watched them, I’ve watched them, and some have even made the recipes just to post about them on social media.
Since the holidays are coming up, this week’s article is a bit of a treat. I’m going to walk you through how you can create a meal that lives up to Tasty’s high standards.
A lot of being an amazing Tasty chef is getting into the right state of mind to get your creative juices flowing.
For example, ask yourself this: why just eat an Oreo when that Oreo can be deconstructed to add more fat and sugar, reconstructed, and then deep fried? Sure, it’ll probably take six hours to prepare, and still taste like an Oreo, but you can’t make it in food porn if you’re not willing to put in the time.

I think you’ve got it. Let’s dive in.
Ingredients
6 kg of refined white sugar
10 kg of bleached all-purpose flour
Enough cream cheese to fill an ice cream tub
3-4 blocks of other cheeses, make sure that they’re all different to get that depth of dairy flavour
Butter, all of it, clear out the grocery store
Directions
As you Tasty-fy a recipe, the main thing to keep in mind is “fit more into the same.”
If you’re making a dip that isn’t mostly comprised of cream cheese, then make sure that it is mostly comprised of cream cheese, and then add more different kinds of cheeses to it.
If the recipe you’re using calls for mozzarella, don’t just add mozzarella. Also add white cheddar, old cheddar, gouda, and havarti—now it’s a Tasty party!
If the recipe you’re making is already pretty decadent, then find a way to dip it in a batter, deep fry it, roll it in sugar, and then serve it with a side of melted butter.
When in doubt, wrap it in bacon.
If you follow these easy steps, you’ll be cooking with the confidence and finesse of the star Tasty chef I know you can be in no time at all.
Happy Holidays!
