Men’s basketball vs. Toronto and Ryerson

The men’s basketball team lost two hard-fought games against Toronto and Ryerson to kick off 2017. The Gryphons sit third in the OUA central division, and will look to gain their first win of the new year in the Athletic Centre opener on Fri, Jan. 13.

Women’s volleyball vs. Brock

Gryphons 3, Badgers 0

In the first game played in the new Gryphon Athletic Centre, the women’s volleyball team dominated the Brock Badgers. Guelph downed Brock in three sets to zero, proving that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the second half of the season.

The men’s volleyball team dropped their first game of 2017 in the new Athletic Centre to Brock. The Badgers spoiled the Gryphons’ six game winning streak, defeating them in three sets to one.

Women’s hockey vs. Waterloo

Gryphons 4, Warriors 1

The women’s hockey team continued their OUA dominance with a 4-1 win over the Waterloo Warriors on Jan. 5. Second-year forward Claire Merrick was a standout for the Gryphons, scoring two goals.

Men’s hockey vs. Windsor and York

Gryphons 1, Lions 3

The men’s hockey team opened the 2017 portion of their season with an exciting win over Windsor. Their winning streak was stopped short a few days later by the division-leading York Lions, who defeated Guelph 3-1 in Toronto.

The Gryphons dropped their first two games of the 2017 season in Toronto. The women’s basketball team will now look for a win in their first game in the new Gryphon Athletic Centre against Laurier on Fri, Jan. 13.
