After narrowly losing to Laurier the day before, the Gryphons faced a tough battle against the number-one ranked McMaster. The young Gryphons team lost heavily to the Marauders, whose game pace proved too quick for them to keep up. The women’s basketball team has only won one game this season.
Men’s basketball vs. McMaster

The men’s basketball team made a daring comeback in the fourth quarter, but fell short as McMaster defeated them by just one point. The Marauders scored a free-throw with only one second left in the game to beat the Gryphons. Despite the loss, things remain optimistic for Guelph who are still in playoff contention.
Women’s volleyball vs. McMaster
Gryphons 3, Marauders 1
The women’s volleyball team increased their winning streak to four as they defeated McMaster in three sets to one. After losing the first set 17-25, the Gryphons battled three hard sets in a row, winning them 25-21, 25-23, and 27-25.
Men’s volleyball vs. McMaster
Gryphons 1, Marauders 3
The top teams in the OUA battled it out on Saturday with the Gryphons falling to the number-one ranked Marauders in three sets to one. McMaster proved too much to handle in the first two sets, taking them 22-25 and 21-25. Despite the Gryphons winning the third set of the match 25-22, the Marauders barreled through the fourth set 18-25 to win the game.
Women’s hockey vs. University of Oshawa Institute of Technology
Gryphons 2, Ridgebacks 1
The leading goal scorer on the Gryphons, third-year Kaitlin Lowy, scored two goals on Saturday to carry the team to a 2-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks. The Gryphons are ranked first in the OUA.
Men’s hockey vs. University of Toronto

The men’s hockey team faced the University of Toronto twice, beating them on both occasions. The win was the Gryphons’ seventh victory in the last eight games, and will give them momentum heading into the Frosty Mug against Laurier on Thurs, Jan. 19.
