In pictures: Growing up on the Bridgeman farm

The family farmhouse, a place that the Bridgemans would call home. My sister was actually born in the living room, which blows my mind to this day.

Once a year, my dad and me would collect the walnuts around the house and bring them to the basement where we would husk and crack them beside the wood stove.

A lot of my childhood was spent around the barn riding horses, playing with ducks, chasing cats, and working in the chicken coop collecting eggs for my family.

This door was my worst enemy growing up. It would take all my strength to open what my dad called the “the dojo.” It was my favourite place to play. It had padded floors and gymnastic rings and I would pretend I was a professional gymnast.

This pile of orange string is from our hay bales, which we used to feed our horses, Tom and Thor, and goat Fred.

I’ve never rode on this particular tractor, but growing up on a farm, I’ve had the chance to drive around on dune buggies, tractors, dirt bikes, ATVs, and even field cars.

The mysterious bus. To this day, I still don’t know the full story to how this bus appeared behind the family farm, but all I know is that it has created some lasting memories for generations.

  4. A beautiful life and wonderful family, please continue to capture every moment.
    I remember it all fondly.

  5. Awww the Bridgeman farm, if those fields could talk…I can’t say I remember all those tranquil moments that you have captured in your lens…but what I do remember is Long John Baldry flying in by helicopter to par take in “Farmfest 85”

  6. Wow! What can I say. Pictures bring back alot of memories. We done it all at the farm. Some of the best times in I’m my life. Thanks Mike, Joan, Troy, Todd, Becky&Pat and Tyler but especially Tim who is sorely missed by many to this day. He would be 55 today and God only knows what would have been. A part of all who knew Tim died that day in 1988 but the memories are still there….I did alot of drugs Karen at the farm and since and I remember welcoming Long John and his large entourage….we could barely afford the motor home on the rider he requested let alone a helicopter. Long live the memories of farm fest 84,85 and brother Walters Political party. I am sure Troy and the rest of us remember the mammoth task of putting together that party for Bro Walter only 3 weeks after the first Farmfest. We should start a campaign to revitalize Farmfest! Yeah! Farmfest 2017. Come on Troy will fly Servos in.Lol!
