Gryphons Got Talent takes over Brass Taps

You’re never too old for a talent show

From belly dancing to rapping to poetry, students at the University of Guelph had the opportunity to showcase their skills at Gryphons Got Talent.

The event was hosted by the Central Student Association at the Brass Taps on March 9 and featured 16 unique acts.

Sean Castillo started off the night with a cover of “Dead Sea” by the Lumineers, establishing a pattern of acoustic guitar and vocal performances from fellow students Elyse Matias, Ryan Ong, Hunter Sheridan, Michelle Cosentino, and Amy Han.

The only group performance of the evening consisted of guitarist Alvin Naigum, vocalist Melissa Paras, and beat boxer Hamdan Asim, collectively known as 4AM. The group closed the show by putting their own spin on Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved.”

At the end of the night, there were no winners or losers. The goal of the event was simply to showcase some of the diverse hidden talents on campus, while also raising money for the Guelph Student FoodBank through a 50/50 draw.
