Coconut oil healthy option for cooking and beyond
Coconut oil is a product you’ve likely heard quite a bit about in recent years. We’ve been told that it is not only good for your hair, skin, teeth, digestion, hormones, and overall well-being, but has also been suggested as the world’s latest and greatest superfood.
Extracted from the meat of a ripe coconut, coconut oil has been praised for its multiple uses and numerous health benefits. The consumption of coconut oil can provide the body with many nutritious benefits, including enhancing overall health and well-being. Many people are drawn to coconut oil for its ability to help with weight loss by increasing the body’s metabolism. Kris Gunnars from Healthline discusses coconut oil’s digestive powers, stating that it has the capability to increase the body’s overall fat burning rate when compared with other fats that are simply absorbed into the body.
Although coconut oil has proven to be better than other high-fat products like butter, it is not advised to consume the product in large amounts, as it is still high in saturated fat. Instead, it has been suggested to substitute coconut oil as a fat when cooking, so as not to add any unnecessary calories while also incorporating more nutrients into the diet. And get this: coconut oil doesn’t just have to be for cooking. Many people flock to coconut oil as a home remedy for nourishing their hair, skin, and teeth. Rich in antioxidants and high in antibacterial properties, applying coconut oil to your hair and skin can enhance the body’s ability to fight infection, support hair growth, and nourish the scalp. And it can even be used as a moisturizer. (It’s the moisturizer I use after getting a new tattoo). With the intention of healing the body, coconut oil can decrease the number of chemicals your body absorbs by eliminating cosmetics that may actually cause more damage than good.
Overall, coconut oil is a readily identified superfood that goes well beyond helping the body internally. It can also be incorporated into many aspects of your daily life.
