Just because you’re in university doesn’t mean you have to eat out every day
Fitness and healthy eating are just a few of the goals students aim for during the school year. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be really difficult to reach those goals. In the midst of assignments, midterms, and finals, students tend to forget to eat healthy and will eventually live off takeout and instant noodles.
These six quick and easy-to-make snacks are ideal when studying or just taking a break from life. They’re healthy and perfect for dorms or even living off-campus when you don’t get around to making proper meals every day.
1. Zucchini pizza bites
These are so easy to make! Just put pizza sauce and grated cheese on slices of zucchini and bake until the cheese bubbles. These are basically a healthy version of pizza bagel bites, but you feel like you’re doing something healthy for your body (because you are!). Zucchini is so versatile and has been used as an alternative for noodles and pasta; making zuch-mini pizzas is no different and satisfies those late night pizza cravings in about the same time it takes to get delivery.

2. Energy bites
Mix together just enough peanut butter to bind some granola and roll into balls to create these sweet and filling energy bites. You can make a bunch at once and keep them by your study table as study snacks.

3. Smoothie bowl
This could be a good breakfast or an after class snack, just blend your favourite fruits with some milk or yogurt, then top off your smoothie bowl with more fruits and toppings, like flax seeds.

4. Celery and hummus
Celery is a nutritious afternoon snack since it is mostly made up of water. It also tastes great with almost any savoury dip, but celery with hummus is usually a safe bet when trying to be healthy.

5. Trail mix
I keep this with me everywhere I go because I know I will get hungry. Nuts have a lot of protein and are so good during classes or when you’re studying in the library and when you don’t really have time to make anything, these will keep you full and energized. Just remember to buy or make a trail mix that’s more nuts and dried fruit and doesn’t include chocolate and candy.

6. Avocado toast
Avocado toast is a great breakfast and it’s super easy to make, taking a total of just four minutes once you’ve perfected your technique — I timed it. Really, it’s just mashing up an avocado with some salt or hot sauce and spreading it on toast. It could be a snack during your study or class breaks or enjoyed before or after a workout to boost your energy levels. Avocado is packed with nutrients, so get spreading.

I hope these tips find you well. Happy Snacking, Gryphons!
